I have a new hobby!

Making Tu-Tu's! I started out just making one for Deci to wear for Halloween. It was so much fun that I thought I would start making them to sale. I'm going to sale them this weekend in our local Harvest Festival. They look really cute with tights or leggins under them and a monogrammed shirt.

This one was the first one I made. It was just from scraps from mine and Q's wedding 4 years ago.

This past weekend I went on a ladies retreat and I forgot my camera!! I can't believe I forgot my camera! It was the best ladies retreat our church has done yet. I loved getting to know the ladies more. Kerrie, my sister-in-law took her camera but didn't take any pictures but she wrote a whole post on the retreat and I thought it was worth sharing with you. You can see it by going to http://kerriewade.blogspot.com

Favorite age...

Yesterday I got in a conversation with one of my friends about our kids and our favorite age that they have gone through. I think about this a lot for some reason...maybe because I hated the new born stage and we are thinking about starting that all over again. When Deci was a baby she was colicky and had acid reflux. She cried ALL The time for the first 3 months. At 3 months she started sleeping through the night...I started to enjoy her a little. At 6 months she started sitting up on her own, smiling and laughing so I think this is when I fell in Love with my child. Every month I would say, "This is my favorite month." Every month got better and better.

My pastor, and friend, Matt told me that his favorite age was one and older. Sure enough when Deci turned one she was soooo much fun. She was walking and saying some words. This was by far my favorite age. From one until 18months. She didn't talk back, she was learning to say more words, she wanted to really play with toys, and she was interactive! It was great. 18 months and after was still fun. I always wondered how long I would say, "This is my favorite month." I wondered when I wanted to go back to "when she was younger". I wondered if she would be 6 and talking back...or if it would be middle school when she thought her mom was "too cool" to be seen in public with...or if it would be those dreadful teenage years when she didn't want to have anything to do with me. Nope, I think it's starting already... Deci has started hitting, screaming, running away from me in public, throwing her body on the floor to throw a fit, and telling me "No!" She turns 2 next month so I'm just guessing this is the "terrible two's!" Don't get me wrong, I love Deci! She is so much fun and is very independent, which I love. She laughs all the time and LOVES to sing and Dance and it's too funny! I just think she is at the age that I dreaded...the age where I tell her "no" a million times a day and spank her and IT DOESN'T work!

I guess I'm saying all this to say that from birth to 2 years old, (yes, I know it's only 2 years), my favorite age is 12months to 18months. I can't wait to have more though. I really look forward to having more and going on trips, mission trips especially. I look forward to playing board games and going camping. I know they say to enjoy these younger years because they go by so fast and that you will miss them one day but let me just tell you I doubt I will ever miss the new born age. I can't wait to have more kids but I really dread those early days...please tell me maybe my next one will be one of the "good ones" that sleeps all the time! :)

So, what about you?? What is your favorite age your child has gone through?

Catching up...

It's almost Fall and I can feel it in the air. I love this time of year, especially now that we celebrate Deci's birthday in the Fall! I'm finally finished with my Summer Vacations. I am slowing down now, relaxing, reading, enjoying life, spending time with my family, thinking about cleaning the house... I am really, really enjoying Deci. She is so funny. Every night we say our prayers before bed and ask her who she wants to pray for. She always says Mommy, Daddy, and Kyle.... every now and then she will throw in another family member but mostly just us and Kyle. (oh and she likes to pray for Matt. Which is so funny to me!) She once asked me to pray for her stuffed animal Dog and then I forgot. After I said "amen" she reminded me that I forgot to pray for her Dog so we had to pray again!

I went to visit the soccer field that I mentioned before in the backyard of my grandads house. We are having a sermon series at church called City on a Hill. We are going to try to reach out to the community and show them that we care. So, Saturday me, Kerrie, Q and Deci went to the soccer field and passed out water to the guys playing. They didn't take a long break so we really didn't get to talk much but we are planning to go back soon.

Also, I went on a girls trip to Destin. These are some of the girls that have known me longer than my Husband, and that's a long time. I met Rachel and Sarah the Summer before Third grade on the Swim team. The rest of the girls follow after...

It's usually months in between times we see each other but every time we get together it's like we have never been apart. I love these girls and enjoyed getting to hang out with them on the beach!!

After I left these girls on Sunday I washed clothes and packed again on Monday and left Tuesday again for the Beach. Panama City Beach to be exact for Quinton's Dad's wedding. I'll be posting pictures from that soon.

Sleeping Beauty!

Sometimes she will not sleep in her bed. She goes to the door and cries until she falls asleep. Some days no matter how many times I put her back in her bed she always goes back to the floor.
